The purpose of the Center’s activity is to comprehensively assist to the innovative process in Ukraine and help to all the participants of this process in the solution of the problems that relate to the industrial property sphere.

To make customers informed about normative and legal principles and the latest news in the sphere of intellectual property the Center continuously renews its section in the State Department of Intellectual Property Internet site (www.sdip.gov.ua) and its own site (www.ip-centr.kiev.ua).

The Center Department of innovation activity began recently to render the services of business partners finding to execute the innovation projects. This service is granted by the means of Industrial Property Internet Exchange (IPIE).

To find investors for the embodiment of an invention the Center places the information about an Intellectual Property Object (IPO) belonging to the client in the IPIE site. Also the information about IPO for right transfer and licensing is published too. This information block is considered as supply side. But the demand aspect is represented in the form of information about new technologies, technical solutions, etc.

Information published in IPIE is arranged in Ukrainian, Russian and English and available all day long that makes it easy to assess and working abilities.

The work of Consulting and Public Relations Department of the Center is highly popular among our visitors. This Department is in the front line of the science and possesses the widest range of information about legal, organizational and economical issues in the intellectual property field. The staff of the aforesaid department has a big experience in this field and can help in the filing of an application, composing of the description of an invention, a trademark. They can also make a comparative or preliminary analysis of an IPO to find out a right infringement, check out the materials of an application for an accordance of Ukrainian Patent Law norms.

The lack of information about rights protection causes big problems to appear during the examination process that can lead even to the refusal of a patent. The cooperation with this Department will avoid these problems, spare your efforts and obtain a strong patent not easy to violate. The professionals carry out patent research studies concerning the patent situation and possible infringements of existing patents, prepare materials for the filing of an application for an invention, utility model, design, trademark etc. Consultation Dept. also carries out a patent search whether by the name, classification indices or number of a document. Using the results of the said search can help in the preliminary estimation of IPO compliance with patent grant conditions. Also the said Department can help in composing the descriptions and claims for IPO, objection for filing an appeal to the Board of Appeal, filing the application for a foreign patent, making a license contract and other right transfer processes.

From April 2001 the Center has the Public Use Fund (PUF) that was created 1n 1993 and opened in October 1999. PUF is the only organization that disposes the official documentation of 58 states and 3 regional and international intellectual property organizations. To replenish, maintain and organize the PUF the Information Search Tasks Department exists. This Department supplies the patent and normative information to everybody who is interested in creation, legal protection and use of IPO. At this time the Department carries out wide range of patent information searches concerning inventions, utility models, trademarks etc. as in cooperation with patent research department as execution of client’s request. You can work well out a search schedule that is to define the subject of search, sources of information, classification indices (IPC, ICID, ICGS). The staff of the said Department speaks several languages what is useful in carrying out a search in Internet databases. Besides this the

Department can also:

-          give consultations about the PUF, the most efficient ways to perform the search;

-          give the possibility of free work in the reading-hall of PUF and free assess to information resources. First of all it is the national patent documents (official bulletin and patent descriptions of Ukraine), foreign patent bulletins, patent magazines, normative and methodical literature, catalogues.

This Department conducts the continuous elaboration of new kinds of services and intends to hold an active position to introduce the brand-new technologies in the field of information work.
